2nd Edition

Published in 2015, the second edition has updates throughout with the most significant changes being updating steel design to the current standards and the addition of aluminum design. The second edition required four authors and five years to create. In all, this edition is almost two hundred pages longer than the original and includes great revisions in the reference materials.  Thanks AISC for making that possible!

First Edition

Published in 1999, this book, co-authored by Ben Sammler and me, was based on my MFA thesis at the Yale School of Drama and took five years to complete. Ben and I received the Golden Pen award from USITT in 2000 in recognition of this book. On a side note, publishing books sure has changed since the 90's as I sent the entire text to the publisher as actual "camera ready" pages! By 2000, .pdfs had been born and it could have been done electronically.
